Hey Do Good Crew,

This weekend, the country celebrates 250 years of independence. So, we got to thinking about what independence can mean, not just for a nation, but for each of us.

Here's what's waiting for you:

  • Jet-lagged Molly Selin, 27, almost ignored 81-year-old Maria Alvarez on a Brooklyn, New York, train. But they connected, have become great friends, and are about to take a big trip for Maria.

  • Jackson Drum, 19, broke his neck playing hockey. Two years later, he walked across his graduation stage. Now, he's getting help with his biggest goal: living on his own at college.

  • We headed to historic St. John's Church in Richmond and re-created founding father Patrick Henry’s "Give me liberty or give me death!" speech. Six of the country's best young speakers brought it to life. Wait till you hear it.

Let’s get into it.

With gratitude,
David
