Hey Do Good Crew,

Because of the World Cup this week, we went looking for examples of good sportsmanship, but what we found was way better: people making sure outsiders felt like they belonged.

  • The whistle blew, and the welcome began. Ecuador fans embraced the lone Ivory Coast supporter in a bar. Dutch fans pulled a solo Japanese fan into their celebration. Not just sportsmanship, but an open door.

  • From “nobody at all” to state champions. Eighteen refugees, nine languages, one title, and a team that became a second family.

  • A star on and off the pitch. English soccer player Jude Bellingham is the star of the World Cup, but he’s been doing good for a long time.

  • Belonging can start with a single person. Singer Adam Lambert honors Lynn Broyles, the voice teacher whose studio was the one place a 13-year-old kid felt like he belonged.

Let’s get into it.

With gratitude,
David
